Yikes, Break Dust !
Holy crap ... got the car washed yesterday and even driving the car home put a nice new coat of the grey stuff inside the rims --- thing is that with the 5-star'ish rims you can see right inside them ....
What about spraying it with some sort of tephlon ?

I'm told the shields work well. The trade off is they wear out the break pads about 50 percent sooner. However, you should be brake dust free.
Wheel Wax can be found at http://www.wheelwax.com.

Anyone use the Wheel Wax yet ? I did some research before seeing your post and others have claimed that spraying the wheels with a anti-static spray helps as it neutralizes the particles that cause the dust to stick.... sounds crazy but maybe it is true....
The wheel wax claims to do the same, plus clean and shine.
If only MB could apply teflon to the insides of the wheels.
Here is the link to the anti-static spray.

Read the description on the can itself ---
2. As long as you go w/ OEM brake pad, you will have brake dirt. Don't waste money and time on thing like wax or spraying stuff, brake dirt will stick to your rims
3. If you want to fix the problem, the only solution is to change brake pad. Benz, Audi, and BMW don't make brake pads for their cars, they buy them from 3rd party company (amazingly, same set of company that produce brake pad for all three companies). Soft brake pad help make the car brake smooth, but the bad side is that its' dirty. That's why you see front wheels of most german cars look pretty nasty. Fortunately, these company also produce pad that brake smooth, but produce little or no dirt. They cost twice or three time as much as OEM brake pad.
I changed mine to PBR deluxe (from FastLane), fix the problem. My car has chromed wheels, 2 weeks and almost no dirt whatsoever. W/ the OEM pad, it's 1 day before the rims turn black.
Search the forum, you'll know.
A note of caution: be very careful if you spray anything around the rotors. You can create pad glazing and squeal issues with your brakes. Brake dust seems to be an oft-mentioned tradeoff for MB's desired braking performance.

No breaks when it rains is too risky to get rid of break dust (lol).

I spray full strength " Simple Green" on the wheels,
( Don't get this on the waxed painted as it removes wax) on the inside, and on the tires.
TThe first high pressure pass with my hose nozzle washes off 70% of the dust, and if I am in hurry thats all I want. Otherwise, I will scrub out with brushes and a rag- never the less the brake dust easily cleans off.
Hardest thing for me is cleaning under the spot where the brake caliper assembly is as it has such a narrow clearance.
Ill keep you posted as to how they combat the break dust.
