sirius satelite activation issue

I have a 2008 E550 that i am trying to activate the satelite on. This morning i got in the car and the ESN number is showing. i went in to work and decided to take a few minutes to activate the radio using there website. then went out to the car to turn it on and let it receive signal. now it is on the screen saying acquirring signal...but never does.

I called sirius and was online for over an hour for them to try and troubleshoot it to no avail...im pretty sure these guys are just following basic troubleshooting stuff and not anything MB specific...finally they 'escalated' to higher tech level and they said to let it search for the next 24 hours because it may be a signal latency issue....i call bull...

Anyone have any similar issues with trying to activate an old sirius radio in there benz? any help would be much appreciated...

I had the exact same issue. The problem is that these units are so old and out of date when Sirus revamps the programming and adds channels it throws everything out of wack and the unit can't accept the new channel settings without help.

My issues were resloved and even though I did not continue my sub, whenever there is a free preview the radio works now. The main reason for these issues was because of the sirus/Xm merger a few years ago.

Contact this person, she helped me with my issue. Going through the regular CSR's will do nothing but waste your time. You need engineering help.

Tell her that your radio needs to be placed in a "protected tier" because your radio can not handle all of the stations they are pushing thru and it freezes up. Once done they will then send another activation signal. That should do it .

I didn't have any problem activating my free 2 month trial, but I think it doesn't have as many channels as it should. I've read in some other sites how if you sign up and threaten to cancel 3 times, the best rate they will offer you is 5 months for $20 or 6 months for $25.
