I have an 2003 e500 that has been running great. This morning I am hard accelerating, about 2 miles from home (car is still not completely warm) when the throttle just stops responding. The engine is running fine but the only way it will pick up speed is if I floor the accelerator and wait. It slowly engages and eventually climbs to city speeds. If i shift to neutral it does the exact same thing. Stomp the pedal to the floor and it will climb to 3-4k rpms in about 5 seconds. Does anyone know exactly what this is without a bunch of guesses? It has no CEL code or any other symptom.

I would start with a quick test and see if there is a fault in the pedal sensor----you say how do I do a quick test-----I use a diagnostic tool!!
