The car does not start immediately after turned off
Hi,
I have a W211, June 2004, European version.
Three times I have had this problem:
1. I turned the engine off, went out to ask for something, and came back after 2 minutes. Tried to start the engine. The starter seems to work OK (10 times or more I tried), but the engine does not start. I left it for about an hour, then it started OK.
2. I parked and immediately after I shut the engine off, I noticed I was too close to the wall. Decided to go a bit further, but the engine could not start. Left it, went for four hours. When I came back, everything normal.
3. The same case as above, maybe the waiting time was a bit more, like five minutes.
I have no code.
What can it be?
If it can be of any indication: sometimes I get: Battery Protection: Convenience functions temporarily unavailable, but it goes away almost immediately.
Also, the radio is always on.

The car not starting when hot and then starting after cooling down sounds like a crankshaft position sensor issue. Do a search here for that-there are lots of threads about it, as it is a very common issue.

I have an E500 and did not show a check engine light but did have code for bad CPS when connected to star diagnostic computer. Autozone code reader showed nothing.

Nice. What were your symptoms. I have a straight up no start. Cold. Code for secondary air injection system been on for months
