Valve clearance at TDC

Valve clearance at TDC
Hello,
If the timing is off on a m272 (2006 E350), will the piston hit the valves, or is there enough clearance?
I have a valve spring broken and the retainer popped off, now the valve is stuck open at about an inch. Since the intake manifold is removed, I can see the piston moving up very close to the open intake valve but not touch. I am wondering if the valve has bent the connector rod or not. The valve does not look bent!?
