Badge question

The upright star is great but I wanted a sportier look so I bought a flat emblem which does not fit into the indentation...

Hi all! I wanted to "sportify" my 07 Bluetec a bit so I went to the dealer and bought a flat hood emblem instead of the upright star. The trouble is, the flat badge does not fit into the indentation where the star base used to sit; rather, it overlaps over the hood. Is that normal? And there is no rubber gasket or anything similar under it, so it feels a little loose and I have a feeling that over time it will rub a flat spot on the paint due to road vibrations and such. The dealer said this is the only flat badge available. Does that sound right or did they misinform me? Thanks!
