Navigation System on eBay
I saw this navigation system on eBay at <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2982981201&category=20 924">Click Here</a>
My car is a 2003 E320 built in January of 2003. Despite what the auction says, I do not think this will work in my car. Is that correct?
Thanks

I wouldn't touch that offer. He has been on e-bay less than one month and all those supposedly good references could have been sent to himself by using a different e-mail address and fake name. Remember the saying "there's a sucker born every minute". I believe that applies to anyone bidding on this system as well as people who buy Tornado supposed fuel savers.
Another negative--if this is such a simple installation to any W-211, why would Mercedes have bought back ~1500 of early delivery 2003 E models for those of us who paid for the Nav initially? SAVE YOUR MONEY!!

Hi,
The 03' E class isn't ready for Navigation. What do you think if MB can install the Navi into E class and still offer to exchange and lost 8K on each Pre-Navi order E Calss??
The adaptor on the back is all different and it is no way to install the 04 command unit into 03 E class. I have the 03 E class and I will love to put one in my E class, but it is impossible since all the wire is different....... Trust me, I have ask few merchanics at back and even call MB for information.
I have the part here in dealership, but one of the merchanic try to put one in, but all wires were different.....

How about us with Nav-replacements?
Would it be easy to swap this for the existing one? I'm interested in having TV and DVD in the car for when I have to wait to pick my wife up from work. Is there way to convert the existing one to do this? I've seen post that mention nav-tv is doing it, but nothing on their website says so.

John- I took a look at the unit and yes it probably might work. BUT, when you factor in the MB labor and other unknowns in the whole bus structure of what MAY be involved you might wind up kicking yourself either way.
Having a non NAV car at first and then getting the NAV replacement in retrospect I would pick the portable NAVMAN unit Model i 630 which uses the same software sans the touch screen that I have presently in my Lexus.
I like the way it looks and performs. If you want a jpeg of it in my old non nav car advise me offline at JDSELTZER@aol.com and I will get it to you this weekend.
EBAY and secondhand electronics and MB techs is not a pretty picture. If these guys could not retrofit our cars in the first place it would scare the hell out of me what they would do here.
Derek.
