Transmission Service

Is it a 2wd or 4matic? If its a 4matic you will most likely have a .6 trans which requires filling from the top. If you have a fill tube look at the cap on the tube, if there's a red tab, its been serviced and or just topped off. As far as if you have a .9 trans there is really no way to tell....

722.9 (7-speed) transmission. You can have MB dealer check VMI, tell them you are thinking about having transmission service performed. Note, ATF should be changed every 40,000/4 years (whichever comes first).

^^^^Jackpot! And yes, you have encapsulation panels underneath. You'll need to remove the rear one if you are going to do it yourself and remove the two most rearward screw of the middle one. Remember to always put the center panel on last!

320 is pretty reasonable for a t/service. 5.5 quarts of fluid, gasket, filter, crush washer, plastic pickup tube, new bolts, and 1.5 hrs of labor.

If you're more of a DIY type guy, you can get the fluid from a shell distributor for about $60-$65 for a case of 12 quarts of Shell 134 ATF.
https://www.shell.us/products-servic...r-locator.html
You can also pick up those other parts online. There's also several threads and even youtube videos on how to change the fluid.
That $320 isn't too bad a price, I think the normal range is about $300-$400.

1.5 hrs is the rate for my dealership. All dealerships vary. Those bolts are magnesium. Stretch bolts to be simplistic. I do not recommend re-using the old bolts. If you over tighten them they will break. Id say tackle the job yourself. Unless you want it done asap with no headache go to the dealer.
edit: the reason the labor is "high" is because technically you are suppose to hook the SDS up, get fluid to operating temperature blah blah blah. I personally dont do that. 5.5 works just fine. Never had a car come back because of a fluid level issue. However if you do it yourself make SURE you dont roll your gasket!!!

You might want to go to a real MB dealership and get it done there. You get free roadside assistance if you've had your car serviced at an MB dealership in the last 18 months. Granted it's rather limited, I think flat tire change, some free gas and a jump start. But you should be able to get a loaner, I hear most of the time it's a C class, but maybe you'll get a new 2015 model. Although you might be able to ask for an E class. If you're lucky they might give you one hoping they can sell you a new one. Also the ones in my area offer 10-15% off service coupons, just go check their website.
