Help identify a media port in the armrest console

Hi all, might be my first post on this forum! However I've been a reader for a long time now and find it exceptionally useful! Thanks all you guys and gals.

Now, to the problem. I've got a Japanese import E350 58 plate and what I thought was a Media Interface port turned out to be something else...

Does anyone know what's it for and what's its name?

Could you post a pic from a tad higher? Looks different than the USA cars curious what the whole thing looks like.

As for what it is looks like it is for the telephone but looks to have a different connector than the one in my car.

Also curious why I see imports from Japan? Is it cheaper than buying locally or something?
