Angry Got locked out

Hi!!

After 2 weeks vacation , this morning I got locked out of my 4 months olds NEW car. The battery is totally dead and the door cannot be opened. Any one has the same experience ??

Also I got the parktronic malfunction this morning, the parktronic red light kept turning on which cannot be turned off.

I also have radio static problem and noisy wipers. This car is really a nightmare to me.

Wishing your W211 is fine!!

Steven

2 week vacation should be ok but this is based on batteries in a good shape. (get a trickle charger and enjoy a long vacation.)

I'm sorry to hear about it. I've got a few K miles on it and its perfect. My W210 has quite a lot of miles on it. The only time it failed was when I accidently flew over a speed bump and wrecked the ESP. A quick ESP reset did the job.

I do hope you'll enjoy your car!

Has happened to me 3 times

Nothing new for me.

Last time, I just needed a jumpstart and to spend some time driving to recharge.

Going out to the car has now become a panic to see if I'll be able to get it to open/start.

If the car was years old I might undertstand.

First time it happened to me it was two weeks old.

That really sucks One of the reasons I got rid of my BMW 540 was because of this problem, however when the battery went dead you could not get in or get out of the car! You could not even get in the trunk to jump the dam car. Everthing was electric. So about 5 times I watch them drag my car onto the flat bed.

Now I hear this

Really sorry to hear this one

Fortunately the blade portion of the key allows you to open the doors and trunk.

after reading posts related to the battery, I am convinced it is undersized for this car. the car must draw quite a bit of current just sitting idle.

HI there

I know it is very fustrating. As an observation, do you think this type of battery drain has something to do with how much electronic gizmo option (Parktronic, Keyless Go and so on)the car has?

If those who has encountered this mishap can list their options, so others on this board can be on a look out for options that may pose a battery drain problem. I think something good can come out from this....

For me, other than HK sound system w/ 6CD changer, the only other add ons I have is the handsfree phone set. So far, I have (touch wood) not encountered any battery issue.

This car has a separate battery to start engine, there are no electronics to dry it, and you can open trunk and doors with a mechanical part of key, so I do not see any problem. i think that mB conserves battery to much, because I can't use power outlets when engine is off, from other side I can use radio. It's strange for me, because I'd prefer to ocharge my cell when car is sitting in parking lot.

you can switch to position I for power outlet connection first then unplug your key. BUT I do not suggest using w211 power outlet while car is parked because it may drain your batteries due to the poor w211 circuit design.

I suspect you must have a defective power consumer because I let my E500 idle for 1 month and it started without problem.

Keyless go sucks out battery, but you should have two batteries. I know the R230 does, one for starting the other for electronics.

I once jumpstarted my wife's car from my e320 -- of course using big battery in trunk. Afterwards, I occasionally got messages on COMAND indicating some preventive measures taken by not allowing turning on heated seats (I forget exact wording). Took it in for service, and I guess they recharged the battery. That seemed to fix the problem.

Yes, my E has keyless go and 2 batteries but I don't think my keyless go will comsume all the electricity in only 2 weeks.

Hi!

My car has: keyless go, parktronic, pano roof, sun cell, interior movement detector,anti-tow, AMG 18" wheel,wooden/leather steering wheel, sport suspension, rear curtain and nokia phone set. I think most of these options consume no electricity when the engine is off. What do you guys think???

Hoping your E is all right!!

B.Rgds.,
Steven
