TPMS Inoperable

I'm a new owner of an 08 E350. I've only had the car for a couple weeks now with no issues. I just installed a new set of tires and 2 days later I get the fault listed in the subject line. Is this mere coincidence or did something get damaged during the install? I had the tires installed at a well recommended Discount Tire Store. I'm assuming that there is at least one sensor that the system cannot read and therefore it is send ing the fault code. I would appreciate any suggestion or ideas.

Thanks.

not sure how TPMS shows on the 08 but if with other models, it would show which is faulty. if thats not the case with your car. have it scanned and should be able to pinpoint which. sensor cost about $100 i think or cheaper on ebay.

MBUSA – if you have not already done so restart system. If problem continues have tire shop revisit.

You might be better off taking it to the tire store. They should have equipment that should be able to tell if they're working or not and probably much less than having it scanned. On mine, the TPMS is pretty rudimentary, only tells you that the pressure is low, but won't say which tire or what the pressure is. Lifespan for TPMS is 5-7 years so it could just be a coincidence.

Thanks a lot. I'm going to go back to the installer and have them scan the sensors.

I think if you search the old threads, there is mention of places of where to get them for around $50, I think the dealers charge over $100 each.

Wouldn't you think the parts from Discount Tire would work?

Yes, but they may quote a price that's higher than what you can get it online, especially if you're at that stage where all 4 might need to be replaced.
