Upgrade the radio to navigation

Hi,

I've posted thread like this yesterday, but it doesn't appear for some reason.

I have a radio on my W211 (not a navigation) with a slot for a cassette (this is 2002-2003 models).

My question is if I buy the big navigation will I have trouble upgrading it? Or I see other solutions on eBay with Android which looks pretty cool too? To which one will be easier to upgrade to?

Thank you!

The big problem here is the first comand fitted was CD based and not that good and all updated maps are finishing this year. If you fit the 04 NTG1, this is not good as you cannot add anything to it. I think that I would go after market with something like the Kenwood

Thank you for the answers. I think that an aftermarket solution would be better.

So a final question - as I said I don't have a navigation - it' just a radio with a cassette slot. If I buy an aftermarket solution, will it be like "plug and play"? I mean will I have all the necessary cables and etc to wire up the aftermarket command?

Here is how my current one look like -

I will be happy to read any kind of answers and ideas...

Thank you guys!

All you will need to do is to add a GPS antenna under the plastic part of the dash. There connectors for everything these days so no wires to cut.

GPS antenna under the dash? Is this for the aftermarket solution or for the original command?

I've found some of the aftermarket solutions in my country, here are the pictures of the one I plan to buy:

I see a lot of cables floating around and it kinda scares me

Can you guys please tell me will this fit and why I do need all of those cables? It is easy to install ?

Thanks!!

Navigation needs a GPS antenna, when the original antenna's fail we always fit one under the dash, the same with a new installation.

Thank you for the clarification, mate. Can you share some thoughts on installing the Command that I've posted pictures in my previous post?

Thanks!

Not possible to know with that unit, you will have to follow the instructions carefully.

Can I cause some damage to the car software by wiring this wrongly?

I mean I will wire it, but if I wire something wrong at first can this cause a permanent damage or something like that?

A friend of mine told me that most likely I have to buy a "Audio 20" to "NTG" cable. Can someone send me eBay link to this cable since I'm finding more than 10-15 different looking cables when searching for this...

Thank you!
