E350 Front Strut Support Ring Position

hi Everyone,

I have a 2006 E350 Avantgarde Sedan. At some stage before I purchased the vehicle, someone has changed the struts but not set the support ring to the correct position so the car sits high at the front. It also affects my camber so inner tyres wearing out quicker.

I need to bring the front to the correct height. Does anyone know what position the spring perch support ring should be in? I have searched everywhere and can't find anything. I rang the Mercedes dealership but the spare parts people don't know, and if I ring the service department they will just say bring it in to get a job out of it.

Also, I noticed the other day that the front end is bottoming out going over speed humps, is this a sign the shocks are worn? They don't show any signs of leaking.

Thanking you in advance for your assistance.

You say the car is sitting higher but the inner tyre is wearing quicker and the car is bottoming out? Those would suggest the car is lower... How big is the wheel to arch gap? Can you see any visible camber on the front wheels?

As much I hate taking my cars to any shop, I took wife W211 for alignment to a dealer. (first dealer service visit in last 10+ years)
Wasn't thrilled with the job as they left few parameters in red, but $170 wasn't the end of the World neither.
You will not find much ways to go around it.

The front is defenitely higher than it should be. At the rear there is about an inch or so between the tire and the quarter panel and at the fron I can fit my whole hand vertically between the tire and panel. Even from the sill panel the front is a couple of inches higher than the rear.

The bottoming out could be due simply to requiring new shocks which doesn't bother me. Becuase the car is sitting higher, this causes more camber which is why tires are wearing quicker on the inside.

I'm hoping someone has the same model than can simply count the amount of positions at the bottom of the shock to the circlip which is what the spring perch is held into position with.
