looking at a 2004 e500 4matic wagon
ok. someone talk me out of this. i am looking at a 2 owner e500 wagon from 2004. i know this was only the second year on this model, but curious your thoughts. i have it going in for a buyers inspection (carfax looks good) early next week. price is sub 10K with 108K miles. am i crazy for even considering?

Not really. Thank of it like this, If you didn't purchase the car someone will. But as long as
you believe your getting a good deal, then its worth it!! Some members have multiple merks in their driveway, and if the wife/girlfriend/etc would allow them to get another we would. So FWIW enjoy the pleasure of owner another Benz, and be proud you do!!

Bought our 2004 E320 wagon 4M when it was 9 years old for 30% less.
Wife loves the wagon, I am the one doing the repairs.
Check if SBC was replaced or read the counts.
If the suspension bags are newer, you should be good for some time.
But bare in mind that in few years the $4-7,000 bags and SBC maintenance will junk the car.

You will enjoy the car just base your offer on the inspection report, if it has been adequately maintained you may avoid future major issues (trans, motor, etc.). The inspector should be able to tell if the SBC was replaced which can alleviate some concern (was critical in my purchase) and make you comfortable with your offer. Good Luck!!
