Alarm Self Triggering; Seating Memory Loss
I can rule out a key getting pressed in wife's purse or in my pockets; the alarm appears to activate on its own accord without the possibility of the key fob button having been pressed.
Where to begin?
If you have any insight into these kinds of problems, I'd appreciate hearing from you. Thanks to all.

After further review ... I found that the red PANIC button on my wife's key is split, or cracked ... not much, almost unnoticeable, but split/cracked nevertheless. So I swapped keys and removed the batteries from what had been her key. The alarm on her E350 hasn't activated since then. We shall see ....
Maddening.
One turned out to be a rusted hood latch cable, which didn't allow the latch to lock completely, and the other turned out to be a hood latch assembly that was damaged in an accident. It still locked but the intrusion switch in it was broken.
Can you check all of your locks/latches to ensure that they close and stay closed fully?
