2004 E500 4matic upsizing tires
Hello MBWorld,
I have a 2004 E500 4matic and currently it is equipped with 17" wheels with 245/45 tires. I am looking for summer upgrade and I would like to put some 19" wheels. My concern is that the car is 4matic, some guys told me that the tires needs to be the same diameter but they may be different width. I did some calculations and figured out that the combinations 245/35/19 (front) and 285/30/19 (back) has the same diameter and it is +2mm from the current 245/45/17.
Are there any tires specialist that may know more about this situation with the 4matic
? Is the car differential will be fine with the new tires/wheels sizes?

Don't need specialists. Go to tire manufacturer of your choice site and compare rpm of both tires.
Suppose 3 % difference is acceptable, but 4M might be more sensitive.
