Need Help: Which to buy, E270cdi or E60 520d?
If I do go for the E270cdi, what colour should i go for, I have a choice of either silver or gold but I think silver is too common. Any of you have a picture of a gold E270cdi.
I haven't test driven the 530d yet but have had a look at the car. Still a bit skeptical about the new design.
Please can I have your opinions.
much appreciated
I am being very critical here because the 270CDI is an excellent 5 cylinder in line engine, but when you are making a big commitment, you want to go in with your eyes (and ears) wide open. If you are looking at the BMW 300D, then why not consider the 320CDI (6 cylinder in line engine) . Which is slightly more powerful engine than the BMW’s?
Oslo, a gentleman from Norway has an excellent looking 'gold' coloured S211 (the estate version) Depending on what country you are from depends on the naming of the colour. In the Great Britain it is called Travertine Beige. They also show a Cubanite Silver which looks like a bit of gold with a dash of silver (shaken, but not stirred)
Good luck with your choice.

Good luck. It's a nice choice to have.
In Great Britain there was a televised race between to Formula 1 drivers. One driving the 3ltr petrol and the other driving the 3ltr diesel 5 series. The petrol got into the first bend ahead, and the diesel just could not get past, and it finished with the petrol winning by half a cars length, so the 3ltr diesel is a good engine. (nearly as fast as the 320CDI.
The 2ltr diesel in the E60 is going to be under powered, as would a standard 2ltr petrol in the same vehicle. Personally I would not go for a large car with a relatively low powered engine. The 270 is a perfectly acceptable engine.

The previous three BMW M5s have been subtle cars. The didn't say, "Look at me! Try and catch me!" The next M5 will likely be flashy.
Hopefully an M5 Touring will be made for the first time since 1995.
