S211 Opening the hood

Why you want open the hood? Are doors now locked, metal key works not in doors/trunk?
There are some threads where are instructions how to release hood locks from underside, but they are very well hidden and without seeing what kind of clamp system is, it is very difficult. Some says opening cable would be visible if you remove driver side front wheel liner, but at least in my car cable goes in engine bay and goes through fire plate to footwell direction.

Does the key turn in the lock or not at all? On the sedans with a trunk, you have to turn the key and lift while the key is turned in order to open the trunk. I wonder if it's the same with the front doors.
Otherwise the simple answer in the US would be to call a tow truck, they can usually use a device to open the door and once it's open, you'll be able to get at the battery.

You might try to push it harder to go past 45 degree.
I assume you want to get to jumping prongs under the hood?
I wonder if your car might have main cable connection exposed at underbody.
