Does everyone get a blanket from M-B?

Yesterday FedEx did a drop-ring-and-run of a largish package on my front porch that turned out to be courtesy of M-B. Inside was a black box with the M-B logo and inside that was a black wool blanket, about 4'x4', also with the M-B logo. The shipping point was Faribault Mills in Minnesota, but the enclosed letter from M-B in New Joisey thanked me for purchasing my car etc. etc. I got my '03 E500 in 9/03.

I thought at first that I was uniquely favored by M-B, but upon searching this board under "blanket" I found a C-type buyer reporting receipt of the same blanket in 9/03. That left me a bit disappointed; knowing M-B, I thought that maybe C-type buyers would get a logo potholder and S-type buyers would get a logo cashmere sweater, size XXL.

So, did anyone else get Mr. Black Blanket after buying their car? What other swag have you gotten from M-B or your dealer in a transparent attempt to buy your affection and loyalty? Shortly after purchase the dealer sent me a bottle of decent sparkling wine (aka "Champagne"), which seemed a curious gift in anything related to driving.

I received my blanket 2-3 months after purchase. I think it was a nice thought, if only my car was as well made as the blanket

I received one also - something like a black wool stadium blanket with the mercedes logo on it.

It showed up on my door step about 2 months after I leased my E320. About one week prior the the package's arrival, I had called MBUSA to try to get some help with all of the problems I was having with my car. So I do not know if the gift was for the purchase or in response to the complaint call. Anyway the second time I called to complain all I got was a letter!

Whatever the reason, the blanket is a nice touch. I just wish they would spend some money to replace the people staffing the phone lines at MBUSA. The person I ended up talking to can only be described as surly and indifferent, and the promised return phone calls never came.

No blanket for me, unfortunately! I'd like one, though, in case the MB fairy is watching!

The blanket sheds, keep it away from light fabrics.

I'm not feeling the love. No blanket *or* keychain.

I did get an extended test drive of an E55 though.

No Blankets here. Received two nicely sculptured glass mugs from Tiffany's instead.

No Blanket for me

I did get a new E500 after 18,000 miles at no cost to me...that may have been a better deal

I got a leather travel folio that was sent to me about a month after my purchase from MBUSA. It had an AMG Owner's card in it with my name and the car's VIN. It's great for holding my registration and insurance.

I think some other E55 owners got it too along with a blanket.

I got a keychain plus a gift package containing assorted gourmet foods and chocolates from my dealer.
Also, had my original E500 replaced with a brand new one after the original car was found to be defective.
Would have rather had the blanket over the gift basket.

I already had filled it with airline tickets and travel documents for an upcoming trip. I thought my GM or sales guy sent it.

I got the key chain with my pre Nav E-500, then got the replacement last August after 12,000 miles on the original. In November I got the blanket and then about a month later, I got the leather travel case.

Got the blanket about 2 weeks ago. Car delivered August 2003. Maybe they sent it after I torched the dealer on the survey of my initial service visit.

I'm seeing a pattern here. The blankie seems to be M-B's attempt to placate people who downrate a dealer on service, or who express less than rabid enthusiasm about the car itself in a M-B survey. I fall into the latter category - check some of my other posts in the (unlikely) event that you want to know why my enthusiasm for the E500 is not boundless. Well, if a blanket works for Linus, why shouldn't it work for us? I've tossed the blanket in the trunk for use if I ever have to install the mini-space-saver spare "tire" in the rain or mud.

Damn, shoulda held out for more free stuff in exchange for giving our salesguy our survey. Too bad we didn't have any complaints. Our sales guy was great and so far we don't have any complaints worth complaining to MB about.

Unhappy

DWP -

I also keep mine in the trunk just in case the climate controls lock up again and I have no heater or defroster. In the dealer today for a whole shopping list of problems.
