static from stereo

driving on 880 southbound last night. All of the sudden static begin to be heard on the speakers for no reason at all. change to different media (i.e switch to radio, to cd, to cd changer.) and radio station. Nothing made the statics go away.

Turn off the power to the command and turning it on again solve the problem.

Hope this does not become a lingering problem.

On the other hand the SBC rumbling sound is driving me nuts. After having the car checked and promised that the rumbling noise is gone. It has returned with vengence over the weekend.

Can anyone please let me know what is the p/n for the damping kit?

forgot to mention this is my E500. So far the E55 are pretty okay.

Lightbulb Static noise solution

I'm sure you have read elsewhere on this forum there's a software upgrade to eliminate the static noise.

Static

I have had the update, but still experience the "static" problem about once a month.

You might want to check with your dealer but I believe the latest SW update was only available a couple of weeks ago (beginning of February). I've had the latest update for 2 weeks now and the car has no static problem.

Hi KK

I looked into my service records when I had my SBC looked into, the following entries were entered as 'part number'

1) 000-431-04-77 ---> Pulsating Damper
2) 203-995-00-05 ---> Clamp
3) 001-983-23-10 ---> Felt Strip

According to the verbage on the service log, the following was done "Performed modification to the suction hose to the SBC. Damper was placed in line with hoses"

I hope this helps. Keep us posted

Good Luck
