Metallic Paint
Can anyone help me out with the pros and cons of Metallic Paint?
From what I understand, the paint shows better after a few years and is more durable; however the cost of repair may be higher.
Any input is greatly appreciated.Thanks

All modern paints...
have clear coat - whether its a solid or metallic paint finish.
A shop that is using the OEM paint can usually produce the same particle size and shading if a section has to be repainted due to a scratch or body damage.
Cons: If you had a really faded paint - this gets harder to match, as the new paint might appear a deeper tone than the older part.
Dark metallics won't stand up to neglect (outside in the elements, not being polished and waxed regularly) and look their best. The dark colors absorb more UV and can oxidize more quickly.
If the clear coat gets dull or hazy, it will really show up a lot. Another thing is swirl marks from not polishing carefully will show up...(lots of posts here about that)
Other than that, keep it washed regularly and waxed, and you'll be in good shape.
