I will p.m. you because I am led to believe that ALL 211's fitted with bi-xeon headlights whether they are active or NOT carry out the short pre-check.

Thanks for the reply

For what its worth....have 04 E44 with an March build date. 339 lighting package...states on sticker, "Bi-xeon cornering lamps". They only do the up/down pre test.

Thank you very much for the replies. So far EVERYONE has confirmed what I have been told.

I am not convinced about the reason though. Why not say it is better to have one system, and tactfully skip the reasons why.

Thanks for the replies,
John

The change over to the short pre-check was started in December 2003, and vehicles with a chassis number newer than ......470799 will only have this 'cut down' version.

Thanks for the info John....BUT why oh why would they ever choose to make a change like that when their world is falling down around them regarding other more pressing quality issues?

Just wondering why you think the shorter version of this "precheck" means less quality???? I have a car that does not do the longer version (up and down and side to side) and my lights are probably one of the best options on the car and they work perfectly.... They are a truley amazing on the rural back roads that we drive to get home.

M.B obviously made a small change in the design that requires the system not to reasure itself that the system is working properly. Its just one less thing that the car has to do and one less thing to fail.

I did not state that I saw this as a reduction in quality, more a waste of time that could have been better spent improving quality elsewhere.

I think that you have both raised excellent points, and neither contradicts the other.

Regards to you both

Hello can anyone of you guys kindly share the video of the headlight that goes up and down and side to side, my 2004 e320 recently had an accident and got hit in the front. I brought the car to the dealership to replace the headlamps and unfortunately they can not programed it to work as it used to. (Up and down then left and right). Dealership said there no such thing that goes side to side... Only up and down... This is so frustrating so please share me the video my email address is vicromjave10@gmail.com.

Thanks

Your vehicle should have one directional checking as opposed to the more impressive dual direction of up, down then left right.

I posted the video of the complete movemernts although it was a number of years ago. 2004 vehicleds onward have the revised movement.

Merry Christmas

John
