2005 E320 rear height sensor removal

I am trying to replace the height sensor on my bosses 2005 E320 diesel and cannot figure out how to remove it. The nut on the end of the ball joint just spins rather than removing. It looks like there is a small flat spot I could get some sort of paper thin wrench on it to stop it but I am not sure where I would get one.

Am I missing something?

I am an idiot. I put the wrong car in the title. This was actually an issue with an 04 E55 AMG. The e320 is having a different issue and I got my brain synapses crossed. We have way too many Benzs to keep track of at times.

A coworker did manage to finally get it off but it was still a pain.
