Bi-xenons for W211
Harris, I take it that bi-xenons are an option on the 211. The housings on the 04's with and without the lighting package look identical.
Mmm.. excuse my ignorance, but what is the difference between regular Xenon on 2004 W211 and Bi-Xenon?

It is definitely a far superior light than the previous 210 xeon headlamp.

Whereas the xenon light is only applied to low beam operation (for high beam a separate reflector with conventional halogen bulb is used), the bi-xenon headlamp operates with one single xenon bulb and creates both low beam and high beam. Typically a projector unit (70mm diameter) is used.
The cut-off is generated via a special shield, which forms the typical asymmetric shape of the low beam function with an inclination of the right-hand side. The concept bi-xenon light contains a movable shield, which can be flipped (by means of a solenoid or electrical motor) to remove the cutoff line, to achieve high beam operation
