Help!!! code p0715. Replaced speed sensor!!!
I just bought an 03, e320 for pennies. It had the check engine light on with the p0715, after reading the forums for about a week and feeling confident, I went ahead and replaced the conductor plate, the connector, tranny fluid, oil pan gasket and drain plug, got the dipstick tool to check fluid level.
After doing all that, the transmission feels much better, but it still doesn't change gears.
What else do I need to do, what am I missing???????
I cleaned the plug, there was some oil around the plug, but the contacts were pretty dry.
The TCM, it did not even occurred to me to take a look at it, where is it located????

I hate stealerships, called one and explained my situation, told them exactly what I had done and what I needed, to clear the P0715 code from the TCU, the guy knew what I was talking about and still told me they needed to keep the car for 1 or 2 days to check for other things that might cause the code.
Why can't they just do what you ask them to do????
By the way, can some one point me to where the TCU is located, my google fu is lacking, I just get pics of W210s TCUs.

if not, you can forget it being a electrical issue.
If it doesn't move at all then you have a hydraulic issue.
if it was electrical you would be in limp mode aka you'd have 1st and 2nd gear....
Thanks CMRIV, the vehicle does move, I can get it up to 40mph @ 4000rpms, it is in limp mode.

You need SD or equivalent to clear the code.
This is pretty good video showing the issues, although on W210. Same transmission.
this is W211 "computer coffin" removal. Seems nobody deal with TCU on those yet.

On a different note, I called another place, and got the same treatment, trying to upsell me things and services that I do not need, nor asked for.
Since I don't see this TCU reset costing me less than $200 bucks, am now thinking of buying an SD, would one of the chinese star C3 be able to erase the TCU codes, could I also use it to retrofit parts on the car such as a newer head unit????
Where's a good place to buy it from???

Buying SD scanner is not that easy. I bought Chinese carsoft few years ago and could not make it working.
Now I am trying to restart it with help of friendly technician. Will see how far I can go.
I've been driving digital vehicles for over 10 years and fixed several issues without SD.
Than you will have "keyboard mechanics" who are not able to tell you bolt size without VIN

If there's some one in the north Atlanta area (Marietta) that is willing to give me a hand, I'll be more than happy to compensate you for your troubles.
If you think this cars are digital, you should get your hands on a Land Rover, I've been driving my LR3 for over 7 years, and have fixed everything on it myself, I do have a GAP IID diagnostics computer for it which has proven invaluable and its worth its weight in gold.
That's why I ask for the SDS, I know its gonna pay for itself after a couple of uses.

PS I have the same code and I also did everything you mentioned in your first post, but I'm still gtrying to erase the code as the vehicle doesn't change gears at all. I have a Star clone software, but I'm having some small problems to get my PC talking to the ECU to erase the code. Hopefully I'll find the solution shortly....
