2003 E500 Surge/hesitation on acceleration
Hello Everyone,
I have an occasional surge/hesitation problem with my 2003 E500 which tend to occur on acceleration. The car runs perfectly otherwise. At first I thought it was engine mounts since I have 185,000 miles on it. I had them and the transmission mounts replaced. It drives a lot better but the occasional surge/hesitation persists. At one time it got so bad when I was crawling along in heavy traffic that it felt like it was going to stall but it never did.
I took it to a mechanic for an OBD check. They said that there is a defective
charcoal EVAP canister. However, I haven't read that this could cause surging/hesitation issues. I also do not have check engine light issues nor do I have any gas fume smell issues. The gas cap works properly and I don't ever overfill.
Thanks for your help in advance.
