E55 or E500 wagon?
Here in Australia, MB has just announced the launch of wagon versions of the E55 and E500. Our Volvo V70T5 is ready for changeover, and this is indeed good news. Until now, wagons here came no bigger then E320.
My wife is the main driver, but I would also use the car on weekends etc. (I have a C32 as a daily driver.) Any thoughts as to which wagon to go for? I've driven the E55 sedan and liked it a lot, but haven't tried the E500. Would you go the extra, or is the E55 too much for a family wagon?

E-class E300e Estate, Sprinter (stretched limo)
Only you know the competance of:
a) Your wifes driving
b) The competance of other road users.
The E55 Estate is obviously the ULTIMATE vehicle. I take it that cost is not a factor, but if it were me and my wife had not done one, I would without doubt treat her to an advanced driving course.
The E55 is a high performance vehicle that will 'instantly' accelerate to speeds that other cars cannot even achieve, and must be treated with respect, having said that the 500 is no slouch.
If you do not want the performance you can put the 'AMG' package on any of the estates.
Please do not think I am being critical of your wife, I am certainly not. An advanced driving course is something that many drivers 'wished' they had done.
My E-class is the wifes car, but I could not justify anything bigger for her.
Good luck with your decision
Regards,
John

John, good suggestion re driving course. I guess I was figuring she would just be content to drive it gently - she has no problem with the C32 - and I could have some fun when I got behind the wheel. However, I suspect I should budget for some speeding tickets as the E55 might be hard to keep at the speed limit - even for my non-enthusiast wife!
