Cam Scoring, is it fixable?

2006 Chrysler Crossfire w/M113 & 6sp
Cam Scoring, is it fixable?

So I am swapping in NA 55 cams into my 5.0 m113. I found some cams on ebay, 130k miles but they looked good and I got a decent deal so I went for it. They arrived today and one cam has some scoring on the bearing journal and some melted metal in the oiling hole. I can clean out the metal in the oiling hole, but I am worried about the scored journal causing damage to my heads. It is hard to see in the picture but there 4 or 5 groves to the left of the oil hole. You can defiantly feel the scoring with your finger. Is this fixable or is the cam dead?

In old tractor I would take small grid sand paper, sand it smooth and reinstall hoping it will last couple of months.
Don't think the idea will work on high-performance engine.
If you have engine machine shop near by - they can grind the shaft, but then you need different size bearing.

I am going to call a shop in the morning, but I figured I would need a new bearing. Is that something easy to get for this engine? I am sure if it was a chevy the local parts store would have a ton of options for me.

Technology change on weekly basis those days and economy can make things obsolete.
In old days you could buy bigger size pistons, hone the block and with new sized rings have "new" engine.
Same was with shafts.
Those were days when performance engine cost average annual wages, so individual rebuild was economical.
Present days in USA machine shop will charge more for grinding than new shaft coming from Germany cost.
Get quotes and check with dealer if they have bearings.
Don't hold your breath waiting for this to work.

Well a new cam from Mercedes is almost $2,000 so it is cheaper to fix than buy new but still too expensive to fix. I brought it to 3 different shops, all of them said it was too damaged for them to fix it. All three are only able to polish it, but it needs to be welded and reground. One shop is able to ship it to California to have the work done but it would be around $500. Considering that is more than I paid for both of the cams, it isn't worth it. I could buy a used engine for what I would be paying just for cams. Looks like I am back to searching for cams again.
