Memory seat postions

I find it very annoying that I have to press AND hold seat position 1 until it goes into the correct position.

Every car or truck Ive ever owned with memory seating just required a one touch of the button and the seat would automatically adjust. I also thought that when I unlock the doors with my keyfob that the seat would assume my position (like in my other "sub-luxury" cars).

Am I doing something wrong here?

First of all, program your key so that the seat moves back and the steering wheel goes up when you turn the ignition off and remove your key. Then program your key so that the seat automatically goes to your programmed memory position when you put the key in the ignition. There is no need to manually hold the memory switch.

IF you are tall and need the seat back all the way, you will still have to press and hold the memory button to get the seat back the rest of the way. At least mine does not go all the way back by itself.

I think there is something wrong with your memory system if the seat doesn't come back to its programmed position. Check with your service department.

Y ou may well be, or, You might not

First question.
Have you set the Key Dependance Function to "On"?

Have set "Easy-entry feature" to "On"?

Select either, "Steering col." or "Steer. col...+seat" to "On"

Do you have "Mirror Parking Position"? Recommend "On"

If US, I don't think you have, "Fold exterior mirrors when locking vehicle"???

Once these functions are operating, have you programmed your key?

If not I would recommend you start the engine (in "Park" )
The book just states you only need the Ignition Lights on.

Adjust seat, steering coloumn, exterior mirrors etc. to the most comfortable driving position.

Then on the drivers door press "M" and within three seconds press either buttons "1", "2", or "3" If you are the main driver I would recommend button "1"

If you are 'vertically challenged' (my attempt at humour) the 'Easy Entrance\Exit' Function will operate. If you are well endowed in the height department, then it will not.

The 'Easy Exit' function moves the seat back and raises the steering coloumn when you take out the ignition key, and vice versa when you put it in.

If you have carried out the above procedure all you have to do is unlock the car and insert the ignition key (I cannot remember if you have to turn it to activate the settings)

You can also program your second key in EXACTLY the same way, making sure ALL the Functions are set to 'On' but use a different memory number, i.e. "2" or "3"

IF this does not fix your problem then I would suggest you take the vehicle back to the dealer where he will first try resetting the memory.

Good luck and happy motoring,
John

Okay,
your an "idiot"

Sorry about that, I just could not refuse your request!!

Anyone that owns a 211 is certainly NOT an idiot, and furthermore, those that ask questions on this brilliant forum are also certainly not 'idiots'

Those that do not ask will never get the answer.

Bye again,
John

Absolutely no problem.

I carried out all of those procedures and our keys would still not retain their memory. A short visit to the dealer soon recitified the problem, they reset some computer 'thingy' and everything now works fine.

Good luck,
John
