Bluetooth car kit
Sony Ericsson Bluetooth Car Kit HCB-30 in the W211? I have an XDA II PDA/MOBILE Phone that I would like to use with the said car kit and was curious on the compatibility of the car kit with the Command of the W211 and XDA II.
Any recommendations on other bluetooth car kits that I could look at?
Thanks in advance!
Please help the uninformed: what the UHI? What is a MODE connected car?
Is this a module for bluetooth and the new e class?
Eric
I'm about to take my car to a Car Audio Shop that's going to check if they can install the NOKIA CK1W Bluetooth car kit. They've quoted a price of AUD 330, installed (approx USD 250). The NOKIA kit seems to be more popular over here.
I'm not to optimistic about MB's ability to intergrate additional functions with it's command. The problem, as I understand it, is not the mode of connection (ie. bluetooth) but more of the software compatibility between the mobile device and COMMAND. To expect the COMMAND to be compatible with a XDA II, NOKIA, ERICSSON, MOTOROLA, PALM etc etc...is a bit of a wishful thinking IMHO. Therefore, if MB is going to come up with its own bluetooth 'addon' the only compatibility that is likely to occur is the ability to disconnect calls, change volume and auto mute via existing MB equipment. Even then, MB will probably charge us a bundle for such an 'add-on'. Nevertheless, I'm still curious.....

As I understand it, MB Australia now does not supply cars with one particular holder. In the arm-rest where the phone sits, there is a black plastic part/terminal, which is ready to take a UHI connection. The phone holder is now optional and costs about AUD300 (just under US$200) and you are asked to choose from three or four phone models (I think there was a Nokia, a Motorola and a Siemens) which can then be connected to the UHI connection.
I, too, am looking for a bluetooth connection that can integrate with my COMAND system. As good as the Nokia 7310i is, I am ready to upgrade to a more modern phone!
If anyone knows how I can do this, especially in Australia, I would love to hear from you!
Although it does not integrate with Command it can still accept voice dialling. There will be an upgraded voice dialler software for PDA/MOBILES like the XDA II in a few months. With this software you can press the Nokia button, the say "Dial 1 2 3 4 .." and it will actually dial it for you. You should also be able to press the button and say "Next meeting" and the response should be "Your next meeting is Dentist Appointment at 3pm". This works by accessing your PDA info via the Voice software thats linked via the Bluetooth equipment. It already exist but is catered more for the US phone number format. I've been told a international version is being worked on.
I am getting the NOKIA Bluetooth Car kit (CK1W) installed on Monday. It should be very discreet and I will post pics.
Update and pics to follow.
