Arrow Should the headlights have gaskets around them?

So I am taking off my passenger headlight and notice there is no gasket. But this plastic piece.I received a headlight from ebay which is from an 07-09 model and noticed it had a gasket all around the headlight like our CLK.

Couple pictures attached. I noticed that neither my driver/passenger headlight have these... Should I take of the plastic piece and purchase the actual gasket pictured that came with the one headlight? Is this something that the factory bi-xenon came with and the halogens didn't or some years did/did not? I can't imagine why it would not be used but looking on ebay I see some newer lights that have the brackets and others come with the gasket??

EDIT: Browsing around I found part numbers:

Right: http://www.mbpartsworld.com/p/Merced...118200512.html

Thanks,
-Nigel

I had gaskets on both my headlights. Also on both used headlights I bought on ebay.

I have a 05 E-class with Bi-xenon.

Bumping this as I just found out my driver's side doesn't have this gasket and the links provided don't work any longer.

When I pull it up on that site it looks like a seal on the rear of the light housing.

And doesn't look to fit a 2007 E63. Although when I do a google image search elsewhere it comes up as the part that seals the headlight.

This place is a joke.
The facelift 2007-2009 211 does not have rubber gaskets around the headlights like the earlier 2003-2006 models did. I own a 2004 E55 with gaskets and a 2008 E350 wagon without. I can't tell you why because the facelift version sure could use them to fill the gaps.

Well I didn't know anything about these gaskets until I looked at my passenger side and wondered why my driver's side had bigger body gaps.

My 2007 E63 has the gasket on the passenger light and no gasket on the driver's.. I plan on taking the lenses off this spring and putting new lens covers on and now I have to get the driver's gasket/seal.

It definitely has (needs) one.

That's exactly it!

When you click to buy from that site it takes you right to a Russian site, while I've purchased a ton for my G55 from Latvia, would love to try to get this local so shipping doesn't take forever.

May call a dealer tomorrow to see what my options are.

Thanks man!

I would never buy from their links, just use the site for part numbers. Not as friendly as a real EPC but definitely like the free resource.

And if the dealer can't help you, I have a left side seal. Doesn't go on my E350.

As mentioned seals are pre-facelift and part #s left 2118200512, right 2118200612 are correct, was passenger side ever replaced possibly with pre-facelift headlamp.
