iCarSodt MB II and calibrating new steering angle sensor on a W211...anyone done it?
I installed a new N49 steering angle sensor and that means a calibration is required. In pre-2004 W211 models one did that by the spinning the steering wheel full left and full right a few times. Being German, MB decided that that is too simple and does not require any special equipment, so post 2004 they made it so you need a STAR system or equivalent to do it.
The vendor who sold me my steering angle sensor (FCP Euro) has been very helpful and loaned me an iCarSoft MB II unit which is supposed to be able to calibrate newly installed steering angle sensors (and do other neat stuff besides just reading/resetting fault codes like the i980 is limited to in function). However, the instructions built into the unit are rudimentary and simply not adequate for a first time user. Very opaque. Pretty useless.
My question is, has anyone used an iCarSoft MB II to calibrate their W211 steering angle sensor successfully and would they be kind enough to share step-by-step instructions. I would be much obliged.

I wish it were as simple as you describe.
Trust me.

Anyways, did you do as I said and follow the instructions on the instrument cluster when you select calibration on the MB II?
I am only posting this or reviving this thread because I just replaced my SAS and MBII says SAS not initialized, I am assuming that means I need to calibrate it?
Anyone have insight on this?
