Blue tooth Audio upgrade using COMAND deck MoBridge M2 Pro Connect
Hi guys,
for quite some time I've been annoyed about not being able to stream music through our E class main unit. It had a CD player but thats a bit dated. I did not want to install one of those Chinese abominations as i wanted to keep the original deck functioning. There are a few options but they all sounded a bit complicated. I bit the bullet and ordered the Mobridge M2 Proconnect. I already had Blue tooth phone audio and it was solely the streaming i wanted. The Unit effectively provides
-blue tooth telephone (if you dont have)
-blue tooth audio streaming
-USB input if you dont have
-auxiliary jack if you dont have
It was a real nuisance to install as there is nothing out there so I made this video which i hope helps some people determine if its what they want and if its the right thing for them. If i had clear instructions it wouldnt have been so hard. It works clearly and reliably although the head unit as a controller is not so crisp. I think Dension offered an alternative but i know nothing of it here in our neck of the world.
I hope the video helps.

heh 8899.
after probably one year or so a few points
-music streaming to date has been reliable, works well. Does take some getting used to the controls. The ability to freely move through your unit does suck, but if you need to change folders, you can do it through your phone
-the bluetooth is like a tractor beam in the car. If im working in the garage, even with the car off, the bloody phone will keep getting 'sucked' into the car and the music will start playing through the car even if you are using another wireless speaker in the garage!
-the thing always starts off with the MBconnect when you turn the car on. ie even if you turned the car off listening to radio through head unit, when you turn the car on, its on the MB Connect units bluetooth which is a little annoying.
Ultimately, my wife mainly listens to bluetooth so its not an issue.
I think if you were a tech illiterate 70 year old you would battle but at least you can keep your factory unit!

I tried the Dension Gateway and had many of the same issues. Navigating the menu was a nightmare but the most annoying issue was having the Bluetooth pick up my calls while sitting in my office (car parked outside next to office). I retrofitted a Kenwood Navigation unit (DNX9990HD) via an Opti-One/NavTV module and it's by far the best mod I have done to my car. All annoying issues are gone.
