Shoulder Harness Height Adjustment
2007 W211. When I drive the car, which is infrequently, I raise the shoulder strap height adjustment gizmo to its highest setting on the door frame ... makes the strap more comfortable across my shoulder. But when my wife drives (it's her car), she lowers the shoulder strap to its lowest position.
The adjuster heretofore always moved smoothly and crisply from one position to another. But here lately, it has become balky: it is especially resistant to movement from the highest setting to the lowest ... it doesn't just slide smoothly as it formerly did. I have, thus far, been able to jiggle and strongarm the adjuster to lower it for my wife, but I fear messing something up inside the mechanism.
So my questions are:
1. Will a spray lube, such as Fluid Film, resolve the adjuster's balkiness?
2. Will a spray lube, such as Fluid Film, just make things worse?
3. Is there something on the backside of the adjuster ... something inside the door frame ... that is wearing out or needs replacement parts or needs some other form of service?
