2006 E350 Bluetooth Car Kit
Great Forum, so much useful information and helped me replace the balance in my wife's car. Thank you all.
Now that the wife loves her car again, she wants a Bluetooth kit for her 2006 E350 4matic.
I was thinking of installing the factory kit but do not know where to even start.
Does anyone know a aftermarket kit that would works thru the factory radio?
Thank you
Eddie
I'm in a similar situation with a 2006 E500 (with Nav). Will the BT kit allow for BT audio as well as telephone?
I would imagine that it is a less expensive and cleaner option than R&R ing the factory system for a newer option...
Certainly, going with the factory kit would be plug and play, where everything is integrated into the car. BT would not work playing your audio. For that you'd have to access your auxiliary port in your glove compartment.
This link has images that show where that aux port is, in case you didn't know.

That Aux port with the cable dangling out drives me nuts.
Sounds like I may have to explore aftermarket options or just live with what I have.

I mounted the 1.5" round control on center console, just to the left of the shifter module. I ran power cord between driver seat and center console, to the 12V at rear of center console. Bought a 6ft headphone extension, and ran cable between driver seat, around back of center console, between passenger seat and center console, then into glove box. The thin wires tuck neatly betweeen the console edging and the carpet. All with no tools, and the wires are not seen (except for the 12v plugged in, and where it comes up to the mount). This could be avoided by wiring directly to fuse box though.

I looked into aftermarket stuff and it gets messy quickly. Determining wheter or not you have the MOS setup, 5.1 or 7.1 speaker system. There's an aftermarket setup from China that matches the look of the original, Android based, but I haven't found ANY actual reviews or installation. $500 and a month for delivery is a bit too much of a gamble when for $20 I dont have to mess with anything, and still have a clean look.

Two pennies plus a nickle.

Works Great. Hide a 12v or just route the wire to cigarette lighter in front dash. Plug in to aux port and good to go. Or just run it battery and charge when needed.
