Weird radio issues on my 2003 E320

When the temperatures started dropping here below 55, my radio would just randomly restart. It has done this last year, was fine during the summer, and started up again a few months ago. One of the things I see is when the system is acting up, the display lags.. meaning if I change stations, the audio would change but the visual part was delayed from 5 to 10 seconds..

I got use to this and accepted it was yet another MB failure with this model year. However, over the weekend, the system stopped rebooting and now the audio cuts out every 10-20 seconds, sometimes for 5 seconds and sometimes up to 60. Right before the audio cuts out, I can hear a static noise over the speakers.

Does anyone have any idea what this is? I really hope it's an easy fix but I've come to accept that nothing is easy when it comes to this car

Thank you..

your radio system was built in 2002 most likely. It may be time to fork out some coin on it. Not to mention first gen 211.... So with that said, my 2009 when i got it in 2015 needed a 1600$ head/comand unit.... so eh, stuff happens....
