Advice needed on E500 purchase
I'm looking at a 2003 E500 for sale locally. It's been imported from Japan, seems well cared for, but comes without warranty. I'm aware of how many things can go expensively wrong with the car, but here's the kicker...
It's got only 28K miles on it, and it's selling for $9500 USD (I am converting both values from NZ units).
My 'vehicle budget' is $250/week, from which I need to fuel, insure and repair the car.
Your thoughts?

Seems a reasonable price for that low mileage..
Get a dealer inspection which last a couple of days.
You could do it with 250 except if the SBC goes wrong, cross your fingers with that.
e500, air-suspension expensive to repair or change it to coils.
v8 mpg etc, Don't know if gasoline is too much in your country of if you drive a lot, maybe an lpg conversion, planning on doing it to my e320 06'

The 2003 is not the best year for the E500. And at the age of the car the airmatic struts will start failing soon. At that price a newer but higher miles, E350, 2008 or 2009, may be a smarter purchase if you have limited funds to maintain a car.
