Super Quality Control Unit

Today my dealer told me that the car goes in production on the 6th of April, and that it comes out from factory on the 14th.

According to the dealer this is way too much time between the start and the end of making the car.

He believes this extra time is because there are certain cars that are picked at random to perform some extra quality control on the car to check that all the MB standards are met.

This extra quality control is not done to all cars because it takes much time, therefore from time to time MB selects randomly some car for this purpose.

Anyone knows about this extra quality control?

I am just a little too nervous of what they will do to the car.

When I took the tour of the MB facility in Alabama, it was explained that they randomly select vehicles and perform these checks to make sure that they are getting the product correct, but that these select vehicles do not get sold to customers because of the abuse it recieves. Maybe this is some new procedure and they are just inspecting the vehicle.

______________

WHAT!!!!!!!!
This sounds like I will get a re-built car.

I just call the dealer, which states that what you mention is correct, but as you mention this is something different.

Still not totally convinced, but dealer states that this quality control is done by the quality control managers themselves, not by the quality team personnel, to make sure that the quality control personnel are doing the correct job.

Things are getting weird, first the SBC brake noise in the demo car, and now this extra quality issue.
I would prefer just a normal out of the factory MB.

MB did announce that they would be addressing the complaints that their quality is slipping. Maybe this is the implementation of MB's new quality control program. I think its probably a good thing. Just glad its not my car (just kidding)

yes, they did. and if you read the new 2005 C-Class and 2005 SLK's...the quality in them are much much better than what MB has done now. high quality materials, feels solid like a MB should!

Thanks for your comments.

I will just wait and see what comes out at the end of this month.

Will revert with feedback on my first MB car.
