E55 Exhaust on E500
Hi all,
I recently picked up a 2006 E500 and was wondering how easy it would be to mount E55 mufflers on the car. Are the exhaust diameters different sizes? What would be needed to install a clean mount? I heard that E55 mufflers are 2.75" while the E500 is 2.5" has anyone done this conversion before, if so how did it go?

If you're looking for more noise look into removing the resonator first. It makes a big difference on the AMG models and will be much cheaper than swapping mufflers.
edit: I don't have any idea how much louder the E500 is without one though. I checked a few youtube videos and it doesn't seem like as much of a difference.

Not really much difference in sound.
I'm with Strigoi, primary, secondary cats and resonators will make a much more pronounced difference, of course depends on where you are...you CA guys have an issue with cat removal.

I have amg exhausts on my amg, no cats, no res, honestly I need it to be even louder, so I might get borla mufflers.
Delete your cats and res for more power and noise, the amg muffler would be more for looks

For me, just the resonator delete is loud enough. I'd like to remove the secondary cats, but that's illegal here (**** Cali smog bull****) and I think it'd be too loud for my liking. I've had an obnoxiously loud car before and it was neat until I had to drive it for any amount of time.

Hi-flow cats are always an option but honestly these cars are just too classy to make them sound like fart cans with no cats.
Besides removing the cats stinks everything up, be ready to smell exhaust constantly, let alone the fact that you pollute enough for 100 cars (something to think about).
I've noticed that my green filters made the superchager whine a bit louder, I'd imagine that adding cold air intakes will make your car sound a bit more muscular as well along with other exhaust mods.
