After market stereo causing issues
Hey all. Been poking around and cant find anyone with my same issue. 2005 e320 4Matic. Had a very experienced car stereo place tell me they could upgrade with no issues. Had them go ahead. Now AM radio does not work, and I get tons of error codes stemming from the removal of the stock head unit. Dealer is stumped as to how to fix. Stereo guy wants to take a crack at fixing. Any advice?
Issues are mainly "Convenience Features Temporarily Unavailable" due to low battery. Both batteries are brand new and charging fine. Do I need to have the original (crappy) components re-installed?

Did the install include the MB Fiber Optic interface and CAN Bus interface? The fiber optic interface carries the audio to the Mercedes amp, and the SW controls are done on the CAN Bus network. I believe the CAN Bus displays the info to the DIC also. You'd know if you had those installed because they're pretty pricey.

Plus, I do know they bypassed to stock amp. immediately post install, my main battery was being drained. they determined that the stock amp was the culprit as it continually "searched" for the other components even when the car was off. they disconnected the old amp and solved that problem.
