Maybe the shift selector module
Hi,
My Mercedes-Benz E-Class 2004 W211 E 200 Kompressor has a strange behaiver today.
When I start the car with keyless mode the following happens:
1. The gear starts at high transmission.
2. The gear stick stuck between D & N, can't return to R or P.
3. After many tries, the stick went back to P, but the car won't turn off, a red warning appears "Shift Gear Lever on Park position", hence, the gear was on P.
4. Doors locks and remote control stopped working.
5. I was puzzled how to shut it down, then on an advise of a friend, I lifted the gear stick cover and tried to disconnect the cable connections one after another and when I disconnected one of the connections while the shift on P, the car turned off.
6. I tried the car later on key mode, the great still act funny, one high, but the car turns off.
Any idea what is wrong?
