2003 E500, when you try to turn on the radio/comand unit the Mercedes logo appears for a little while and then turns back off to a black screen.
I purchased a fiber optic loopback connector and followed these directions
. I bypassed the CD Changer, Tele Aid Module, Voice Module and NAV cable (although this E500 doesn't have NAV I wanted to make sure). The voice module had a different connector then my standard fiber optic loopback connector so I removed the fiber optic cable from the connector and held it to the Mercedes connector while someone else powered on the comand center and tried to power on the radio with no luck. I might have not had a strong enough connection so does anyone know what the connector on the voice module is called?
I noticed the CD Changer is not opening but I'm assuming this is because when 1 component goes bad the whole system seems to shutdown, anyone know if that is correct?
Could damage to the antenna cause this problem?
Any ideas before I try replacing the audio gateway?
Thanks for your help!!
