Talking Brabus Exhaust!

I just had a Brabus Exhaust system installed on my E500, and all I can say is - WOW! What a HUGE difference in attitude that exhaust makes, in looks and in sound. When you fire up that engin, the deep throaty growl of the V8 makes you stand up and take notice. It's like I have a whole new car once again!

I'll post some pictures of them later today.

I think I might feel a performance gain, but it's very subjective. Just hearing that throaty growl when I stomp on the gas is enough to make you feel you're accelerating faster. The Brabus exhaust is a lot lighter than the MB stock one too, so that weight savings should translate into a (very small) performance increase.

Turning the engine on is enough to get your adrenaline flowing. I don't know how to describe it - it's like starting up a Vette or a Porsche - that throaty growl from just starting the engine just gets the blood flowing. I never had that kind of rush before from just starting the car up.

Yes, it was a nice and sunny day today in the Bay Area, California, about 70 degrees.

Yes, it would look better with the Brabus bumper, but I'm trying to keep the upgrades/mods under control. As it is, I wasn't planning on even doing the exhaust mod, but I came across a deal that I just couldn't pass up.

I drove the car home today, and had some explaining to do to the wife. Thankfully she had just done some jewelery shopping the other week!

The only other mod I have in mind would the to add the OEM sat radio. Then I'm done! (keep saying that 20 times and even I might believe it! )

What did the exhaust run, or What should it run if you had a one time deal?

Nice!! What's the effect on gas consumption? Does this affect your warranty?

Brand new, the Brabus exhaust costs just about $2k. That doesn't include installation. I bought it lightly used from the Classifieds here for just about half that. At that price I couldn't pass it up. I figure if I don't like it, I could always sell it back for around that price.

If anyone is looking for a good price on a brand new one, ask MarcusBenz, who is a sponsor on this forum.

Well, so far the effect on the gas consumption is that it's going to be worse - just because I've been stomping on the gas whenever I can to hear the engine/exhaust roar! With normal driving, I don't see why it would detract from the mileage. It might even slightly improve it, as it's less restrictive. With the way I've been driving, though, I highly doubt that!

As for warranty, who knows what MB would decide if it ever came down to that. It's a catback system, so it shouldn't affect the warranty. But MB could decide whatever it wanted. They could even deny a claim if you put on aftermarket wheels/tires, if they determined they weren't correctly sized for your vehicle.

I've been extremely happy with the Moven wheels. I see you're selling your Brabus VI ones, what will you replace them with?

My buddy has the Brabus VI ones, which the Moven 13's are a replica of. We parked side by side, and could not tell the difference between the two. I'm definitely not knocking the real Brabus wheels, I would get them for sure if money was a little more in ready supply, but I'm more than satisfied with the Moven ones.
