W211 wagon rear sits lower after coil spring conversion
Hi,
I need some help for a friend : he has a 2008 E350 wagon 4Matic with rear air suspension.
He converted it to coil springs using Arnott's kit. The problem is that the rear sits WAY lower than the front.
The current kit is this (p/n C-2896):

Back when he ordered it (two years ago), the kit had a different part number (C-2675), but it's the same thing, right down to the instructions.
Any idea why that is? The kit is wagon-specific.
Is there anything that can done (spacers, perhaps) to make the rear level? The difference is pretty obvious.

Not sure if OP can respond, but can you confirm that Arnott fixed the problem? I installed the C-2663 kit (for full Airmatic conversion on a 4Matic E500 wagon), and the rear is significantly lower than the front. Just got off the phone with Arnott and the (rather dismissive) rep said he'd send out the C-2896 kit. Apparently the springs are a bit longer. Did some quick research, and coming across this article, I'm not convinced the new springs will fix anything. Thinking about saying screw it and spending the $15 on spring spacers - much easier to install than a whole new spring, too.

Arnott spring conversion kits have always been garbage especially on wagons that carry an extra 300lbs on the rear axle. If you want to do it right, use mercedes coil spring control arms, springs and spacers. The Arnott spring seat for the conversion is a total hack job.
