Need Ebay Advice
Has anyone ever bought a vehicle on ebay. More specifically a benz because I saw a mercedes being auctioned off on ebay and was wondering if its a good idea to buy a vehicle this way. Thanks for your advice. If you have bought a vehicle on ebay what was your experience. Good or bad?

a friend bought an 03 M3 off ebay. He's here in California and the car was selling in Ohio or some midwest state. He used a reputable escrow service and had no problems. I'd say he was lucky that the car arrived as advertised. There's not much you can do if something is found unexpected upon delivery. You're essentially buying a car without seeing it in person or test driving it.

Agreed. If it sounds too good to be true, it is.
Last week someone had an 04 Audi A8L for a buy it now price of $20,000 or so. Since the car sells new for $75,000 or better that smells of scam. E-bay will pull stuff like that if they catch it.

I've bought and sold a few cars on ebay. Bottom line is make sure you see the car and drive it before you pay. Oh and like they said before, if its too good just turn the other way. But there is no reason why you shouldn't find a great deal on ebay. Just don't get into a stupid bidding war prompting you to bid higher than the value, people always do that. Call the guy and make him an offer and ask him to close the auction early for you.

I love ebay, but I would never buy a car there! I always think of the floods that happen across the country and things like that. Those cars end up somewhere. Ebay would be a good place to get rid of a damaged car. The downside potential is too great. You get what you pay for.
That said, my sister bought a "transportation" level car on ebay to drive in Mexico. She is very happy with it.
