Problem: Seat Belt B-Pillar Height Adjustment

2007 W211. Wife's car. She always adjusts the seat belt to its lowest B-Pillar setting. When I drive her car, I adjust the belt to the highest setting. But the adjuster is getting increasingly difficult to slide up and down its range. Out of an abundance of caution, I now leave it in its lowest setting. I would like to inspect the mechanism inside the B-Pillar, but I'm guessing there's a bunch of parts that have to be removed and wedges have to be used to pry off the pillar molding.

So ... I guess my questions are: (i) have you experienced this problem and, if so, (ii) did you resolve it, and, further, (iii) how?

King Tiger: Many thanks for the service instructions. What might I expect to find in the belt-height adjustment system that might have to be replaced or serviced? Or is the problem likely something that needs cleaning and/or a bit of lubrication? Have you ever serviced a problematic seat belt height adjustment unit? If so, what was the problem and what was the solution? Thanks again for your help.

“Probably” lubrication. Part # is VIN dependent, see attachments for visual.

isn't power operated with your seat? Mine move up when I move the seat back.
