Angry 2005 E320 Key fob / Central locking issue

Hey guys,

All of a sudden the Central locking/open boot etc is not working.

What we have tried.
  • Replacing batterys in key fob - No joy.
  • Re-sync of key fob - turn key to position two, pull it out, within 10 seconds hold down the lock buttom and press the unlock button 5 times quick while still holding hte lock button. It shoudl resync right then. - Again no joy.
  • Tried the secondry key fob - no joy
  • Replace the 7.5 fuse in the boot (The fuse that was in was blown) but we changed it with a new one but still no joy.

Really do not want to take it into mercades,Its starting to cost alot of money this car it was on the computer just last week before this key fob issue happened.

any suggestions appreciated.

Does the key fob open the door locks when you point the end of it right at the little black rectangle on the drivers door handle and press door unlock button on the fob?

Sometimes you have to have it less than 10mm away. This doesn't always work in direct sunlight so you may have to shade it with your hands or try it at night. This would at least let you know the door lock actuators are still working.

That 7.5 amp fuse you replaced can blow because the siren unit under the right front wheel well has shorted out. The radio receiver for the key fob is on that circuit also as well as the tow away alarm tilt sensor I have found out.

Hi,

No it doesn't,it does not do anything it was working fine a few days ago but we have had some unusually hot weather here in the UK, 32C and the problem seems to have started since then,Maybe its unrelated though.

As for the 7.5amp fuse,We have never actually heard the siren,Nor the alarm,We was under assumption the alarm just didnt work been an older car..when you press the button to lock the car and the mirrors fold in it didnt make any beep or anything like you see on similar E320 cars on youtube.
really appreciate the reply btw.

The Alarm sirens tend to fail on these w211 models. Its under the right wheel well. Maybe broke or loose connection / cable. Check it out.
