do you all think that we will be able to ask for colours that appear in other merc lines but aren't offered as standard? like royal indigo and orion blue? those are the two i was hoping to choose from.

options
As usual it looks as if MB are going to take as much as possible for all sorts of options that are standard in other cars like Lexus.I for one have ordered an e500 but will wait to see what a fully optioned car is going to cost me.I will want the panarama roof ,upgraded stereo,ventilation seats,bi xenon,dvd navigation.sunshade,wood/leather steering wheel,sport package,keyless go etc.It is really great(yeah right!!) that leather is standard in a $56k+ car but if the extras add up to more than $6/7k more then MB are being ultra greedy and will price themselves out of the market even with a great body style.BMW are not much better.
Why cant MB get their act together and offer a dvd based navigation system at outset of new E launch.Who in their right mind will order an old cd based command system in a new car when it will be superceded in 3/4 months time.This is arrogance on MB's part.

Salesperson wasn't 100% sure, but she said that there most likely won't be any COMAND system until the new one becomes available......so if you want a September car, you won't have Navigation.
Should add that there is no mention of Designo packages yet.... for those interested.
No doubt though, you will be able to option this car close to $70k.

I would rather the options....
give people the opportunity to get the car for a price without things that will be useless to them. Although Lexus offers all these things as standard, that just means the price of the car is that much more. My car came with a number of items that I didnt want but still had to take (Bose stereo is one). I did not take the COMAND system because I think its out dated. The new one coming out in 03 is much better from what I hear. Rumor has it that it will be in the new E55 that Im expecting delivery of in Apr of 03.

I wish they had a beige sort of 'tope' interior. Although the black charcoal interior is really nice, there is no other darker colors, the only options are the oyster, and really light creme color. Will that change? When will designo be out?
