Question Bumper Size Differs

Hi all!

Found this site while doing my research on bodykit. Great place!

Now, let me vent off some steam here heh heh...

I just ordered a Wald kit sometimes ago for, my W211 Elegance, from Japan.

I got it this morning! And after unpacking the front lower lip, I couldn't get it to fit nicely! We tried it on another W211 (Advant Garde) and it fit seamlessly!

Someone was also telling me left hand drive and right hand drive models differ in bumper size too.

The Avantgarde comes with slightly different options, but it does not mention any major difference to the front 'end'

Radiator grille with five louvres, painted in high-gloss black, with chrome trim
Bi-Xenon headlamps with clear lenses
Side skirts and rear bumper in sporty, dynamic design (nothing about a front 'spoiler')

Elegance
Radiator grille with four louvres, painted in high-gloss atlas grey, with chrome trim

Strange how it fits one, but not the other??

Regards,
John

John,

I think the front "spoiler" is the bar across the lower opening on the appearance package in the US.

422 Appearance Package
For some real attitude, consider the optional Sport Package for your E320 or E500. The interior features chrome-edged black birdseye maple wood trim, and a matte-chrome instrument cluster with ivory-color dials that are softly backlit blue at night. Outside, you're dressed to impress. Bi-Xenon headlamps with heated washers, a grille with five chrome ribs over black slats, and a sculpted aerodynamic front apron make a great first impression. Subtle side skirts, blue-tinted glass and 17" 5-spoke light-alloy wheels with 245/45WR17 high-performance tires continue the story, while the sculpted rear apron and instantaneous response of all-LED brake lamps leave a lasting memory.

I think the package that you have described is the European Avantgarde option. I think the ivory dials (it is described over here as 'white') and blue lighting looks very nice. So nice in fact I decided that was the package for me.

I have just been looking at the E-class brochure and there is a difference between the front spoiler of the Elegance and the Avantgarde.

The Avantgarde has a full 'wire mesh' type grille beneath the bumper. So I can see why perhaps the kit fits one and not the other.

Nice speaking to you,
John

I just received words from Wald Japan.

It seems that the W211 do have different bumper size!

The Wald EX Line, which I bought, fits the Advant Garde model.

According to the Japs manufacturer, the advant garde and elegance have different bumper size!! The difference cannot be seen by naked eyes. If you try measuring the perimeter of the bumper, they do differ, and the difference is only a few mm!

Nothing said about classic model. Same applies to W203 I would presume. Wald Japan also cannot confirm if the bumper differs if it is made in Germany or S.Africa, nor left-hand drive vs right-hand drive model.

I was also told by a friend who work for Merc that the AMG kit also comes in three different model for W211, for the same reason I think.

Wald also inform me that the lowering spring is different too depending on the displacement. The oval muffler chrome ends fits E320 only, and the fenders replacement requires me to "... remove the front window shield washer tank for the instllation..."

hmm...
