Lowering my 2003 E320 + DUBs ?
Hey folks
I am sure this question has been asked over and over again :
"If I have a stock 2003 E320 (NO Sport Pkg ) and want to LOWER it and put 20" rims on it, what are my options for the SUSPENSION ?
I am thinkin of F3 Modular SL3 wheels
http://www.symbolicwheels.com/b_sl_3.htm
20 x 8.5 FRONT
20 x 10 REAR
What do you folks think? What are some challenges when trying to fit 20s on the E class ?
thanks in advance

20's and lowering? wow! i have 20 x 9's and the only problem you will face there is possable the inside rim rubbing on the control arm when you go around corners where you get the body rolling. Not sure if 8.5 decreases that, im sure it does. I also rub no matter what in reverse and turning. Kinda bothersom so i almost always park in a position where i dont have to turn in reverse or just pull out forward. You will probably have to roll the fenders out if you lower it i would imagine. and you might have to do it to fit 10's on the back. IMO the car wont need to be dropped any once you get the 20's on. The wheel-well will look completely full and it will sit beautiful.

Arghhh
OMF-ingG!! Do not mutilate your car into some ghetto sled!! Tragedy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You don't want a ride that screams elegance, panache, pinnacle, and epitome of class?? Then dub out a bimmer or a caddy.
For God's sake, don't ruin such a gorgeous car!
Of course, IMHO, YMMV, My .02, Etc.

Sup Joe,
by "Do not mutilate your car into some ghetto sled!! ", did you mean that I shouldn't put the specific wheel on, or did you mean that I shouldn't put 20"s on?
My friend has 20s on his W211, and they look awwwsome! To each his own taste, eh? What kind of wheels are you running?

HR Springs?
Any experiences with the HR Springs PN# 29324-3 ?
Do you think "20 x 8.5" on all 4 tires works?
thanks

i dont think 20's on a non sport E320 will fit, the tire is too big. But i do think ive seen one before but i doubt that the car has full turning ability and im sure the owner doesnt drive it fast at all due to the traffic.

pimp my ride, yo.
I've seen 20's on W211s - just not 100% sure if the non-sport E320 will work or not.
Personally - I don't like that slammed 20" ghetto cruiser style - but to each his own.

ive been reading the posts on this thread, and i would like to answer the original posters question on what fits a e320 non sport version.
i have a 2003 e320 non sport version. I chose Brabus for my wheel setup. 20 by 9.5 inches all the way around including a Eibach 1 inch drop all the way around. rides beatifully...full turning capabality...no rubbing. The only thing you need to do after this job is to ROLL the front fenders or you will rub slightly coming into a driveway that has an incline.
i know most posters here do not like this setup or think its ghetto but keep in mind i live in hollywood and these are everywhere
i hope my pictures post here.. anymore questions just ask. here is a link if pic doesnt work
http://www.mbnz.org/gallery/showlink...e=W211_E_Class
p.s. i had an aquaintance put on fake brabus 20's and he had lots of problems. Seems theyre not made the same afterall.

I'll have to modify my last post. Your car looks good, sprng. ![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
The drop and the wheels are tasteful. What I don't like is when guys slam their cars so low that the tires tuck under the fenders.
Looks ridicuolus.
A month ago the wife and I were heading downtown to the gym and a "gentleman" in a teal S Class completely slammed with chrome 20" spinners rolled up next to me at a light.
It was killing me... but he looked happy - so hey. No worries.

sprng73,
thanks for the info and posting pics, see a while back there were a number of guys with non sport 320's claiming they tried to do 20's at their respective wheel shops and got shot down by the workers saying it wont fit. But since you have evidence its clear that the car has great space under there especially with a 9.5 in the front.
Your car looks great btw.

thank you for the comments guys, just a quick note on 20's setups.
above your two front tires under the fender is what looks like a swing arm. It has a nut sticking out the bottom part of it that might interfere with the tire. Although on my setup BRABUS 20 by 9.5 (245/35/20) the nut did not interfere, on my friends car it did.
he had knockoff brabus rims with all the same specs and tire dimenesions. He left the place with the nut digging into his tire and left a deep rut in his tire afterward.
just to calirfy, its not the nut that digs in but the little bit of metal thread ssticking out of the nut that causes the problem. It can be easily snipped off with no affect on performance or safety. the metal thread sticks out about a quarter inch below the nut.
most shops here in los angeles are quite informed about this since they do 20's all day long. my friend went back and fixed it and its fine now.
just a pointer if your gonna put anything larger in diameter than 19"s. Again with my 20's i did not need to clip this tiny bit of metal thread hanging between the arm and the tire. But on other rims and tire setup it might.
no biggie, right?
